Sergio Volpi
Sergio Volpi ( born February 2, 1974 in Orzinuovi ) is an Italian footballer who is since July 2010 Piacenza Calcio under contract.
Career
Sergio Volpi began his professional career at Brescia Calcio. There, he could not initially prevail and was awarded for the season 1994/95 the then third division Carrarese Calcio. He could win a regular place in the club, but remained in 23 games in Serie C1 without scoring. After his return to Brescia Calcio, the midfielder earned the now relegated to Serie B club a regular place and posted on November 12, 1995 with a 2-1 defeat in the away game against AC Ancona his first goal in a professional league.
In summer 1996, he signed with the league rivals AS Bari, where he was able to increase its hit rate and with the Apuliern promotion to the Serie A. The 1997/98 season was also thanks to his four goals this season, the club brought in the three counters, finished on the 11th place and thus reached the league. He left the following season the club and joined the SSC Venice. After he could still win the league in the 1998 /99 Venice, followed the next year, the descent into the second division. With his next employer Piacenza Calcio, he managed to re- promotion to the top division and in the following year the league. In summer 2002, the then playing in Serie B club Genoa Sampdoria took him under contract.
Even with the Blucerchiati he managed an immediate return to the highest Italian league, Volpi contributed eight goals this season in 35 games for the team's success at. Also in the following years included the midfielder to the permanent staff of the association. During this time he was first appointed to the Italian national team and made his debut on 18 February 2004 in the match against the Czech Republic for the Squadra Azzurra. He ran 82 minutes as a substitute for Simone Perrotta on the field, the game ended in a 2-2 draw. His second deployment was followed exactly six months later on 18 August 2004. During the friendly match in Iceland, he was part of the team that defeated surprising 2-0. The hits for Iceland Gylfi Einarsson and Eidur Gudjohnsen scored.
His greatest successes with Sampdoria reached in the season 2004 /05 with the fifth overall place in Serie A and the related qualification for the UEFA Cup. After the first round of the Portuguese representative Vitória Setúbal was defeated, followed in the group stage of the withdrawal from the competition. The decisive factor was a 2-1 defeat in their final group game against RC Lens. In summer 2008, Volpi signed after six years in Genoa FC Bologna. After he had spent there one season as a regular player, he moved to second division club Reggina Calcio. In January 2010, he gave them until the end of the season on loan at Atalanta from.
In July 2010 he signed a contract with the second division club Piacenza Calcio.
