Serse Cosmi

Serse Cosmi (2003)

Serse Cosmi ( born May 5, 1958 in Perugia, Italy ) is an Italian football coach. He is currently without a club. Previously, he coached already including the AC Perugia, Udinese Calcio U.S. Palermo and AC Siena.

Career

Cosmis career began in 1990 as an amateur coach of Ponte Vecchio, a small team of Ponte San Giovanni (near Perugia ). Within five years, he brought the team from Prima Categoria ( fourth lowest amateur league in Italy ) in the Series D, the highest amateur league. He then coached the AC Arezzo, with which he rose from the Serie D to Serie C1 within five another very successful years.

According to observations Luciano Gauccis in 2000 Cosmi was head coach of the first division side AC Perugia. There he spent four years as coach, even winning the UEFA Intertoto Cup. In 2004 he left the club after relegation to Serie B in the direction of Genoa, also Serie B, with the clear goal of ascension. After winning the league title in 2004/05, he left the club after dissonances with the club chairman Enrico Preziosi. However, after that suffered the relegation, the club because of fraud allegations.

On 23 June 2005 Cosmi was the successor of Luciano Spalletti head coach of Udinese Calcio. Spalletti qualified in the pre-season with Udinese for the UEFA Champions League.

After a disappointing twelfth place in Serie A and the elimination from the Champions League Cosmi was dismissed on 10 February 2006, Argentinian Loris Dominissini and Udinese's professional Roberto Néstor Sensini inherited.

Since February 28, 2007 Serse Cosmi managed the Lombard club Brescia Calcio in Serie B, the second Italian league. Under his leadership, Brescia reached in the 2007/ 08 season, the play-offs for promotion to the Serie A. There, however, it failed to UC AlbinoLeffe.

In October 2009 he left Brescia to coach the AS Livorno. On April 5, 2010 Cosmi was sacked as coach of the club.

In February 2011, Cosmi was after a 0:7 swatter from U.S. Palermo against Udinese Calcio successor to the sacked coach Delio Rossi, but it already came back in April of the same year.

After a poor start to the season of the U.S. Lecce dismissed early December 2011 his coach Eusebio Di Francesco. As the successor of the then bottom club Serse Cosmi was presented on the same day. After taking office in Lecce left with Cosmi the bottom of the table and reached some acceptable results, about a 1-0 on the eighteenth at Fiorentina Gameday or a 1-0 win over Inter Milan on the twentieth matchday. However, it was not enough to avoid relegation at the end of the season. The paths of Serse Cosmi and U.S. Lecce separated in June 2012.

End of June 2012 Serse Cosmi was introduced as the new coach of the first division side AC Siena. He has been in Siena successor of Giuseppe Sannino, who had led the club in the previous year with fourteenth place for safe relegation and then new coach for the U.S. Palermo.

Others

His high popularity in Italy Cosmi attributable to, among other things, his combative behavior on the sidelines. Another feature Cosmis is his baseball cap. In addition, he is regarded as a strong personality in Italian football.
