Seysses

Seysses is a commune with 7866 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute- Garonne and the Région Midi -Pyrénées. The inhabitants are called Seyssois, Seyssoises.

General

Seysses is the irrigation canal Canal de Saint- Martory and the river Ousseau, 19 km south of Toulouse and is part of the Aire urbaine de Toulouse (extended urban).

Pierre -Paulin Cardinal Andrieu (1849-1935), Archbishop of Marseille and later Bordeaux, was born in Seysses.

On 29 April 2012, a moderate tornado caused some damage in the town.

The population increased from 1,642 (1962 ) on the present state.

Maison d' arrêt de Seysses

The Maison d' arrêt de Seysses ( Detention Center ) is for remand prisoners and offenders who are sentenced to a maximum of three years, provided. For too long prison sentences convicted, it is merely a passage institution. The house is in two objects for men, one for women and one for young people divided and reports to the Court of Appeal and the High Court in Toulouse. Built in 2003, it has space for 596 inmates.
