Roques (Haute-Garonne)

Roques is a commune with 3936 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute- Garonne and the Région Midi -Pyrénées. The inhabitants are called Roquois, Roquoises.

General

The municipality is part of the Aire urbaine de Toulouse (extended urban area ) and is situated on the Garonne. At the French road network Roques is a national 125 (now Autoroute A64 ) between Toulouse and Muret, as well as the Route nationale 117 connected to Spain by the former route.

In the village there is a natural gas compression plant for gas station supply, the existing natural ponds gemeindeigene water reservoir and the Centre commercial Roques ( shopping center with the retail chain E. Leclerc, the furniture store IKEA, and others).

The population increased from 304 (1741) on the present state.

The Blazon: On azurfarbenem box, silver obelisk flanked by two same-colored cranes, in the upper box to the left two superimposed standing silver mouths, right the halved golden Tolosaner cross, flanked by two golden facing lions, in the midst of the corrugated silver center piece a golden chess piece.
