Fonsorbes
Fonsorbes is a commune with 11,536 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Haute- Garonne in the Midi-Pyrénées region.
Geography
The municipality is located in the historic province Fonsorbes Savès, 20 kilometers southwest of the city center of Toulouse. The Garonne Creek Touch separates the nucleus from Fonsorbes southeastern district Nouguéris.
History
In ancient times, led a Roman road from Toulouse to Dax near by; Here was located the domain Mansus, which later was named after the Christianization Mas Saint Pierre. 475 here the slain by the Visigoths Gaudens was buried. In the 8th century a monastery was founded, which took its name; around the monastery a village grew, developed from the city.
Demographics
The proximity to the city of Toulouse and cheap land prices allowed the community a rapid population growth.
Education
In Fonsorbes the kindergarten, primary school and the College can be visited. Next there is a public library and a summer camp.
