The Shanghai Stadium is a football stadium in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. During the 2008 Summer Olympic Games there round matches of the football competitions were held.

The stadium was built in 1997 at the 8th National Games of the People's Republic of China from 12 to 24 October 1997 which took place in Shanghai. Its area covers 190,000 square meters, the stadium capacity is a maximum of 80,000 spectators, making it one of both of the largest football stadiums in the aggregate to the biggest stadiums. In summer 2007, the stadium was one of the venues of the Special Olympics, the games for people with intellectual disabilities and multiple disabilities.
