The Shinanomachi Station (Japanese信 浓 町 駅, Shinanomachi eki ) is located in Shinjuku in Tokyo Prefecture, Japan.

History

On October 9, 1894, the station was opened by the Kinoe Railroad as a passenger and freight station on the newly opened route between Shinjuku and Iidabashi. On October 1, 1906, the station went on with the nationalization of all private railway companies in the possession of the Japanese National Railways. On February 1, 1941, the freight operation was terminated at the station and the station went on 1 April 1987 following the privatization of the state railway in the possession of the products resulting from the privatization of JR Higashi- Nihon over. Since 18 November 2001, the Suica is accepted as an electronic ticket at the train station as well as on 20 March 2008 the "green box " (みどりの窓口, midori no madoguchi, ticket offices of JR Higashi- Nihon which there is at almost every station ) closed.

Even the palace Akasaka, used as a house for state visitors today (迎宾馆, Geihinkan ) is close to the train station. In addition, there are also the headquarters of the Soka Gakkai Kōmeitō and near the train station.

Use

In 2008, the station from an average of 27 237 passengers was used on the day, so the rank of 151 took over 900 on the ranking of the busiest train stations of JR East in 2008.
