Simca Profissional

Simca Chambord Brazil ( original model )

The Simca Profissional was a successor to the Simca Alvorada, which was itself a scaled-down version of the Simca Chambord Brazil. The former Brazilian president Juscelino Kubitschek and his government in those days certain that every car manufacturer should offer a cost effective basic version of each model in the country to give as many Brazilians as possible the chance to own a car.

New incentives and new version

In 1965, the Brazilian government created a new possibility of public funding for its public bank Caixa Economica Federal. This was allowed the Brazilians to finance a vehicle over four years with a monthly interest rate of 1%. This was of course a number of new customers to attract and Simca do Brasil was looking for the opportunity to offer the Simca Alvorada cheaper, so it also was attractive, for example for taxi operators. Thus Profissional the Simca appeared in 1965 in three colors (yellow, green and cream ) and without chrome parts (even the bumpers were kept in dark gray). The already simple facilities of Alvorada was with plastic seat covers instead of leather seats and dark door panels of cardboard that were simply screwed to the metal, undercut. Thus, the Profissional was 30 % cheaper than the original model of Alvorada, the Simca Chambord. The numbers of this version were apparently never documented, and in contrast to the Simca Alvorada Profissional had no unique chassis numbers, but this version was counted at Simca Chambord.
