Simon Youl

Simon John Arthur Youl ( born July 1, 1965, in Symmons Plains, Tasmania ) is a former Australian tennis player.

Life

Youl won 1983 junior competitions in the French Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open in doubles with Mark Kratzmann. The previous year, he had become a professional tennis player. In 1983 he won the Challenger tournament in Sydney, in the following year he won the Challenger tournament in Lee-on -Solent. By the end of the 1980s he played successfully on the Challenger tour, but also recorded some quarter and semi-finals on the ATP World Tour. His first ATP singles title he won in 1989 in Schenectady, the year after he won at the side of Todd Woodbridge in Casablanca his first doubles tournament on the ATP World Tour. In total he won during his career ever two singles and doubles titles. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1992 with position 80 in singles and position 63 in doubles.

His best individual results in Grand Slam tournaments were first knockout round appearances at the Australian Open and at Wimbledon. In the doubles competition, he stood at the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open each in the quarterfinals.
