Sixten Boström

Sixten Boström ( born September 15, 1963 in Helsinki ) is a former Finnish footballer who now works as a coach. As a player he was several times the Finnish and Singaporean champion in 2013 he won his first title as a coach.

Career

Bostrom began his professional career at HJK Helsinki in his native city and in 1981 the club was able to celebrate the double of league and cup. In 1984 he moved abroad for the first time and played two years for BK Hacken in Sweden. Then he returned to HJK in 1987 and a second time Finnish champion. In 1988 he moved Geylang International and won with the club the championship in Singapore. After returning to Finland to FC Kuusysi, with the third time in his career he reached the 1989 championship, followed by another interlude at Geylang International, in which he a second time national champion in Singapore in 1990. In 1991 he came again to FC Kuusysi and won his fourth championship. Then he stood by FinnPa under contract, where he finished his career in 1993.

After his career end Boström worked as a secondary school and was committed to the side as a youth trainer at HJK. By coach stations at FinnPa and Jokrut he finished his schooling in 2002 and took over as full-time coach the FF Jaro, which he led back into the First Division. After he had left the club in 2004, he worked as a spy for the Finnish national team. In the 2006 World Cup, he commented for the Finnish YLE channels as an expert, the final games. Later, he headed for Suomen Palloliitto, the Finnish Football Association, the Education Department.

In late November 2007, the Swedish club Örebro SK in Allsvenskan Boström as successor of the ousted in the course of the season coach Patrick Walker and the transition coach Urban Hammar. After the club was only narrowly escaped relegation in the previous season, he led the team in the 2008 to seventh in the standings. By the summer of the following year, the situation for the club designed positive, hence the contract of the coach has been extended until 2011. In the season 2010, the team placed firmly under his direction in the upper third of the table and reached the European Cup in third place. Although the club could not continue the good performances in the league under his direction and was eliminated against FK Sarajevo in the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League 2011/ 12 made, yet the club extended his contract in July 2011 and again tied the coach to end of 2013., the club had placed itself as Tabellenzwölfter in the preseason above the relegation zone, the team launched unsuccessfully in the season of 2012. Having had remained until the summer break in twelve games without a win this season, the club released him in early June from his duties and replaced him by Per -Ola Ljung.

Early 2013 took over Boström as the successor of multiple champion trainer Antti Muurinen the fortunes of the Finnish record champions HJK, at the end of the season in 2013, he led his former play structure for the fifth successive title.
