Skalka (Prostějov District)

Skalka ( German Strerowitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers south-east of Prostějov and belongs to Okres Prostějov.

Geography

Skalka is located on the edge of Hanna in the easternmost outcrop of Drahany country. The village is situated at the northern foot of the hill Na skalách (273 m) in the source basin of the creek Travnička. To the north rises the hill Saint Prokop (237 m), on which the same chapel. On the eastern outskirts of the village is situated on six mineral springs, the spa Lázně Skalka. In the east, the railway line from Olomouc to Nezamyslice where in Čelčice the nearest station is located runs.

Neighboring towns are Čehovice in the north, Čelčice in the northeast, Klenovice na Hané in the east, in the southeast Pivín, Vřesovice in the west and Výšovice in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Skalička and Vladiken Bohudar of Rakodavy dates back to 1360. Since 1550, the existence of the village is documentary evidence. Among the owners of Skalička were the noble families of Otaslavice, Pernštejna and Falkenhayn. In the second half of the 16th century Matyas Žalkovský of Žalkovice bought the place. During his reign several popular songs were written about the place. Over time, the name of the town changed in Hvězdov and finally in Strerovice.

After the abolition of patrimonial Strerovice was in 1848 part of the municipality in the district Pivín Kremsier. 1877 was the community Strerovice, which belonged to the District Commission Přerov and the political district Kojetin, and later to the district Přerov. In 1900 Strerovice consisted of 75 houses and 277 inhabitants had. 1921 the village received the name Skalka.

After two mineral springs were discovered on the site of the former pond Bařisko, 1928 opened the Prostějov physician Wilhelm solstice a sulfur- alkaline spa. Ten years later, Dr. Schnabel was looking for other sources and put it an artesian mineral water on. Later, other sources have yet been discovered, each of which has a different water texture.

Between 1950 and 1960, Skalka was part of Okres Kojetin and came to the resolution to Okres Prostějov. Gepfarrt Skalka has always claimed Pivín. After the Second World War, something had been invested in the bathroom hardly took place in 2004 for 14 million crowns the renovation of swimming areas and the gardens were restored. In the bathroom, rheumatic and other joint diseases are treated. The composition of the thermal water of Skalka is unique in the Czech Republic and most comparable even with the fountain in Slatinice and wine bar.
