Skegness
Skegness is a small town in East Lindsey District of the English county of Lincolnshire. She had a total of 18,910 inhabitants in 2001 according to census.
The city is a popular tourist destination and is also known as Skeg, Skeggy, Costa del Skeg or "the Blackpool of the East Coast " and has a famous mascot, the Jolly Fisherman.

Geography
Location
Skegness is located southeast of the Lincolnshire Wolds and directly on the eastern North Sea. It is located 21 km south-east of Spilsby, 39 km north east of Boston and 74 km east of the county capital of Lincoln.
History
The city's name indicates the origin of a Danish settlement. Local historians say that the city name of Skeggi ( the bearded one ) comes. More likely, however, is that the name derives from the modern Danish terms skæg (Bart ) and næs (nose ) is derived, or in the geographical terminology as " the headland ". Skegness was originally a fishing village and small harbor to the railway connection in 1875, since then, tourism plays an increasingly important role.
