Sky Blue FC

The Sky Blue FC is a women's football franchise from Piscataway Township, New Jersey in the New York metropolitan area. It was founded in 2012 and plays in the National Women's Soccer League, the highest league in women's soccer in the U.S. since 2013.

The Sky Blue FC is part of the Sky Blue Soccer organization, which looks after the development and promotion of soccer players.

History

Already in the WPS, an American women's soccer professional league, which existed from 2009-2011, there was a team named Sky Blue FC. Also this was one of Sky Blue Soccer.

On 24 November 2012, the creation of a new women's football professional league in the U.S. was announced. It was also announced that a team under the name Sky Blue FC from the New York metropolitan area will participate. On December 15, 2012 it was announced that the new League National Women's Soccer League is hot.

Season 2013

The Sky Blue FC was launched on April 14, 2013 with a home game against Western New York Flash in the first season of the NWSL. The team coached by Jim Gabarra secured a 1-0 victory. At the end of the Regular Season SBFC finished fourth and was thus qualified for the play-offs. There, however, it failed in the semifinals.

The Sky Blue FC plays its home games at Yurcak Field. It has a capacity of 5,000 spectators.
