Washington Spirit
Washington Spirit is a women's football franchise from Washington, DC It was founded in 2012 and plays in the National Women's Soccer League, the highest league in women's soccer in the U.S. since 2013.
History
On 24 November 2012, the creation of a new women's football professional league in the U.S. was announced. It was also announced that a team of Portland will participate.
On December 11, 2012 it was announced that the new franchise from Washington, DC, will bear the name Washington Spirit - and not, as initially assumed, DC United Women.
On December 15, 2012 it was announced that the new League National Women's Soccer League is hot.

Washington Spirit will host its home games in Maryland SoccerPlex. It has a capacity of 5,126 spectators.
Reserve
There was already in the W-League franchise called a DC United Women, which belonged to the same organization as Washington Spirit. From 2013, it will serve under the name of Washington Spirit Reserves as a reserve of Washington Spirit.
