Šmarješke Toplice

Šmarješke ( German: Teplitz ) is a municipality in the region of Lower Carniola / Carniola in Slovenia.

Location and population

In the overall community consisting of 24 villages and hamlets 3101 people live. The main town Šmarješke alone has 492 inhabitants. The municipality is located north-east of Novo mesto.

History

Šmarješke sparked in 2006 by a referendum of the municipality of Novo mesto and since 1 January 2007, a separate independent municipality. Šmarješke is a spa town.
