Sona Ahmadli

Sona Ahmadli ( born October 5, 1988 in Baku ) is an Azerbaijani wrestler. It was 2010 European Champion in the weight category to 59 kg body weight.

Career

Sona Ahmadli grew up in Baku and began as a teenager, first with judo. As a junior she reached in this sport greater success and was founded in 2004 in Rotterdam junior vice-European champion in the age group U 17 She reached then by the year 2005 in this sport in other international tournaments and at the Junior European Championships 2005 in Zagreb, where they finished 5th, still some good results.

At the Junior World Championships this year in Istanbul, she retired after a defeat in their second match against Alla Tscherkasowa from Ukraine, and came in 8th place.

When Ringer's European Championships 2009 in Vilnius came for Sona Ahmadli the "Off" after the first round, where she lost to Anastasia Grigoriev from Latvia. They finished only 16th in Vilnius.

She showed there that now actually one of the elite in women's wrestling, because she took in the weight category to 59 kg after wins over Olga Kalinina, Kazakhstan, Valeria Scholobowa, Russia and Nadeschada Michalkowa, Belarus, losing to Anna Vasilenko, Ukraine and another victory over Amanda Gerhart of Canada 3rd place and thus won a world championship bronze medal.

That this was no coincidence success, she proved at the European Championships 2012 in Belgrade, where she worked with Ludmila Cristea of Moldova won a bronze medal behind Anna Vasilenko and Anastasia Grigoriev, geimeinsam.
