The Soryu Class (Japaneseそうりゅう 型, Soryu - gata ), also referred to as 16SS class is a class of hunting submarines of the Japanese sea Self-Defense Forces ( JMSDF ) with air-independent propulsion (AIP ) and replaced the U- boats the Harushio class.
