South Yarra, Victoria

South Yarra is a suburb of the Australian city of Melbourne. It is located about 4 km east of the city center. The name refers to the location of the district south of the Yarra River.

Around 1835 years populated the first Europeans during the founding of Melbourne and the surrounding area more. 1854 a post office was opened.

Together with the neighboring Toorak South Yarra is one of the most affluent areas of Melbourne. Property prices are among the highest of all of Melbourne.

To the west of South Yarra is the Fawkner Park, a recreational park with many sports facilities, as well as a part of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
