Spain women's national football team

The Spanish national football team represents Spain in international women women's football. The national reports to the Spanish Football Federation and is trained by Ignacio Quereda for 25 years. The Spanish selection was qualified for a major tournament so far zweinmal. 1997 reached to the semifinals of the women's soccer championship. This may change due to the success in youth development in the coming years, however. The U-19 team won the European Championship in 2004 and the U -17 European Championships in 2010 and 2011.

In qualifying for the 2011 World Cup, the team met with England, Austria, Turkey and Malta. England and Spain won all the games against the other teams and so the encounters between the two were decisive for the group. As Spain lost to England 0-1 and the second leg ended only 2:2, Spain landed at the end on the second place. With 16 goals, the Spaniard Adriana Martín Santamaría scorer was the World Cup qualifiers.

In qualifying for the European Championship 2013 Spain met, among others, Germany and Switzerland. With six wins and two draws and defeats the Spaniards reached number 2, which authorized the playoffs for the runners-up. In this, the Spaniards prevailed against Scotland and reached for the second time the finals.

In recent years, Spain oscillated in the FIFA world rankings from No. 21 (June 2004 and March 2008) and No. 15 ( December 2013 ).
