Spencer Machacek

Spencer Machacek ( born October 14, 1988 in Lethbridge, Alberta ) is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who is since March 2013 at the Columbus Blue Jackets of the National Hockey League under contract on their farm team, the Springfield Falcons, playing in the American Hockey League.

Career

Spencer Machacek began his career in the 2004/05 season at the Brooks Bandits of the Alberta Junior Hockey League in. In the three seasons that followed, he worked for the Vancouver Giants of the Western Hockey League. With the Giants, he won the 2006 President's Cup and the 2007 Memorial Cup. In the final game of the Memorial Cup in 2007 Machacek scored the goal for the 3-1 final score against the Medicine Hat Tigers by an Empty Net Goal in a majority situation.

On 28 March 2008 he signed his first professional contract with the Atlanta Thrashers. In the 2008 /09 season, he was first employed in the farm team of the Thrashers, the Chicago Wolves in the American Hockey League. During the season, however, he was called two times in the NHL squad the Thrashers. On 16 March 2009 he gave his team a 5-1 victory against the Washington Capitals its debut.

On March 10, 2013 Machacek was transferred in exchange for Tomáš Kubalík to the Columbus Blue Jackets.
