Spišské Vlachy

Spišské Vlachy ( German Walldorf, Hungarian Szepesolaszi, latin Latina villa) is a city in eastern Slovakia and is located in the traditional region of Spis ( Spis ).

It was first mentioned in records in 1243 ( King Béla IV was named town ), the town was pledged in 1412 by the Hungarian kings for 360 years of poles. Already in the 14th century there was a hospital, and in 1592 a Latin school is mentioned. 1666 and 1862 the city was destroyed by fire fires and rebuilt.

1923 lost Spišské Vlachy city rights. 1992 Spišské Vlachy with Dobra Vola ( " Gerhardshof " ) merged and is now back city.
