St. Gallenkappel

Rüeterswil was until December 31, 2012, a municipality in the canton of St. Gallen in the constituency of See-Gaster. On January 1, 2013, it merged with Eschenbach and gold rings on the new community Eschenbach.

Geography

Rüeterswil is located about 3 km north of Uznach, and between Wattwil and Rapperswil -Jona and comprises the villages of St. Gallen Kappel, Rüeterswil and forest.

The village consists among other things of the hamlets Würzengässli, Mountain, Gerendingen, Oberrain, Gwadt, for Spycher, horse-drawn meadow, village, Oberdorf, crown meadow, wood and Betzikon. Rüeterswil to about 700 m above sea level. M., with its 383 inhabitants, comprises the hamlets Obermatten and village. Forest at 840 m height has 239 inhabitants and consists of Widen, village, Rütihalde and Oberricken.

The highest point is 1,332 m above sea Tweralpspitz with. M., the deepest in Aabachtobel 439 m above sea level. M.

Population

History

The community was called up to the 18th century Rüeterswil. The village Rüeterswil emerged only around 1750. Where today is the parish church, probably a Gallus chapel was built in the 9th century, which was dedicated to St. Gallus and gave the place its name.
