Staalplaat

Staalplaat is a Dutch- German independent label based in Amsterdam and Berlin. Staalplaat was founded in 1982 by Geert -Jan Hobijn as a platform for " new and experimental music." The label releases music mainly from the genres and Industrial Noise. Staalplaat operates the sublabels container, ERS, God Factory, Hond In De Goot, Microwave Recordings, Mort Aux Vaches and Open Circuit. Since founding the label over 300 publications have appeared.

As part of the Sonambiente 1996 Berlin branch was opened. Since 2008, operates in Neukölln Staalplaat record store that focuses primarily by mail order of the labels.

Among the most important artists who publish on Staalplaat include Muslimgauze, Hafler Trio, Zoviet France, Asmus Tietchens, Esplendor Geométrico, German Nepal, Ryoji Ikeda, Kapotte Muziek, Massimo, Lustmord, 386 DX and Francisco López.

The Publications of the albums of the anti-Zionist project Muslimgauze and the presentation of his music, for example on the club transmediale 2007 was criticized by various reviewers.
