The stadium Miejski ( German Municipal Stadium ) is a football stadium in the Polish city of Wroclaw. It is a UEFA Stadium category 4, the highest classification of the European Football Association.

History

Construction began in November 2008, with completion scheduled for June 2011; after a delay, however, was opened in September 2011. The new stadium is to be mainly used by the football club Slask Wroclaw and has a capacity of 42,771 seats. On 30 December 2009, the agreement with the Polish general contractor Mostostal Warszawa SA terminated due to delay in construction. The new general contractor was the German company Max Bögl.

On September 10, 2011 was held at the opening of the stadium the WBC world championship boxing match between Ukrainian heavyweight world champion Vitali Klitschko and challenger Tomasz Adamek in Poland.

Since 2014 takes place the second weekend in May at the Esplanade, the festival of good beer instead.

2012 European Football Championship

During the European Championship three group stage matches took place in Wroclaw.
