The Municipal Stadium is a football stadium and rugby venue in Toulouse. The stadium is mainly used by local football club Toulouse Football Club, as well as the rugby club Stade Toulousain soaked for top games from their own stadium, the Stade Ernest- Wallon, in the largest stadium in the city. However, the FC Toulouse urges the construction of a larger stadium to meet their own needs.

History

The stadium, which was designed by French architect Jean Montariol for the Football World Cup 1938, was inaugurated in 1937. Since then it has been renovated twice. First in 1949 and most recently in 1997 for the World Cup 1998 At the same time an increase in the seating capacity to 37,000 seats took place in the last renovation. 1998 were held in the Stadium Municipal six World Cup games.

The stadium was also the venue for matches in the Rugby Union World Championship in 1991, 1999 and 2007, as well as the Rugby League World Cup 1954.
