Stanislav Vydra

Stanislav Vydra SJ, ( German Stanislaus Wydra; * November 13, 1741 in Hradec Kralove, † December 3, 1804 in Prague) was a Catholic theologian and professor of mathematics at the Prague Clementinum and the University of Prague, where he in the academic year 1800, the Office of the rector held. He belonged to the Jesuit Order.

Life

Stanislaus Wydra was the youngest son of Königgrätzer councilman Karl Wydra and Theresa circulation, both of which came from Neubidschow. Stanislaus initially received private lessons and was recorded with eight years in the first class of the Latin Königgrätzer Jesuit High School. In 1757 he joined the Jesuit Order. His eldest brother Ignaz († 1783) was a member of the Order, and was last superior of the Jesuit College in Tuchomieritz. After the two-year novitiate in Brno Stanislaus repetierte 1760/61 in Klattau the humanities. From 1762 to 1764 he studied at the Prague Clementinum philosophy and mathematics.

In 1765 he was sent by his superiors at the Jesuit Gymnasium in Jitschin, where he taught grammar. He then returned to continue their studies back to Prague and spent five years as an adjunct at Joseph Stepling. At the same time he studied theology and Maths with Jan Tesánek. In 1769 he was ordained a priest in 1770 and he spent the Tertiate in Jitschin. 1771/72 gave him the Order of representation, the pastoral care in Vilémov. On the recommendation Step Lings he was called to the dissolution of the Jesuit order in 1773, professor of mathematics at the Karl- Ferdinand University. After Step Lings death he held on December 5, 1778 a memorial speech in Latin and also wrote in Latin Tap compact biography that was printed. From 1785 had the math, which was until then presented in Latin, taught German. Occasion of the centenary of the death of Jesuit Bohuslav Balbin on 28 November 1788, he gave a biography out in German.

1789 and 1790 Wydra was elected Dean of the Faculty of Arts. 1799 he was appointed to the canonry Allerheiligenkapitel at the Prague Castle, which had not been appointed for a long time. In the academic year 1800, he held the position of University Rector. In 1803 he became blind and died a year later. His body was buried in the Prague Cemetery Olšany.

On July 20, 1816 Wydras pupil and successor Josef Ladislav Jandera held the 'State Gedächtnissfeyer the Reverend Stanislaus Wydra, "which appeared in the same year the Prague publishing house Gottlieb Haase.
