Stefan Szczesny

Stefan Szczesny ( born April 9, 1951 in Munich) is a German artist who became internationally known in the 1980s as a representative and protagonist of the " Junge Wilde ".

Biography

Stefan Szczesny was born in Munich, the son of Martha Meuffels dramaturge and writer Gerhard Szczesny. After high school he attended from 1967 to 1969 a private school of Fine and Applied Art in Munich, before he began his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and his guest studied art history and philosophy at the University of Munich. During his studies Stefan Szczesny worked as a freelance art critic for the evening newspaper in Munich.

In 1974 he married Matilda Moldenhauer. 1975/76 he was a DAAD scholarship in Paris, where son David was born. In 1979 daughter Sarah was born. 1980 was followed by a guest staying at the Villa Romana in Florence, where he dealt extensively with the Italian Renaissance. In 1981, he moved to Cologne, and organized the exhibition Rundschau Germany as the protagonist of the "New German painting wild " in Cologne and Munich. 1982/83 he was awarded the Rome Prize of the Prussian Academy of Arts, making a stay at the Villa Massimo was connected to Rome, where he dealt extensively with the Roman antiquity. 1987 and 1989 came his sons Roman and Aurel to the world.

From 1984 to 1988 Stefan Szczesny produced a magazine Painting • Painting • Peinture. In the winter of 1990, he traveled to the Caribbean, where he began working at the Jamaica series and the " strip images " for the first time. For the staging of Dark House at the Bavarian State Opera he took over in 1991/92 the overall artistic design. In the same year he also took over the artistic furnishings for staging Intrigue and Love. Together with Elvira Bach 1993 he traveled to Sicily to take part in there where Fiunara d' Arte project. 1994 the artist moved his studio in New York. In 1995, the Project Voltaire in Potsdam, the project Lindencorso in Berlin and first stay on the island of Mustique. A year later he founded Szczesny Factory and it appeared first publications in the affiliated publishing.

1998 Stefan Szczesny started with the Kempinski Art Project and worked in Murano glass to sculptures. In 1999 he married Eva Klein on Mustique, they have two sons Felix (born 1997) and Anton (b. 2000). In 2000 he designed on behalf of WWF, the world map of life for the world fair Expo 2000. His new studio Les Mas des Palmiers in St. Tropez, he referred the following year. It was followed by a work stay in Seville and its subsequent exhibition.

In 2002 he released Szczesny - the film (directed by Curt Faudon New York) and premiered at the Cannes International Film Festival. 2003/ 04 he began work on the ceramic sculptures for the project Villa Soleil Terre Blanche, Tourettes and the conception of the art project Le Roc. Opened in 2005, the Düsseldorf gallery Ludorff under the title Fleures et Fruits a solo exhibition of the artist. In addition, Szczesny 2006 Szczesny Factory Berlin and the exhibition shadow sculptures in Saint Tropez opened. Started in 2007, with two years of preparatory work, the project Mainau Island: Szczesny 2007: A dream of an earthly paradise in which Stefan Szczesny the Bodensee- island to the artistic work of art remodeled. Part of the artwork was also an airship of the type Zeppelin NT, which had been covered with two female nudes after Szczesny specifications.

2008 Stefan Szczesny realized an international project at Stuttgart Airport: Under the title trip to the sensuality. 2009/2010 created 32 large steel sculptures in Miami and were in the park at the Biltmore, shown on the occasion of Art Basel Miami. Subsequently, the sculptures will be exhibited at Art Palm Beach at the Convention Center of Palm Beach.

Stefan Szczesny lives and works in Saint Tropez ( primary residence ) and Berlin.
