Stensele

Stensele ( South Sami: Gierkiesovvene, umesamisch: Geärggiesuvvane ) is a place ( tätort ) of the municipality of Storuman in the Swedish province of Västerbotten County and the historic province of Lapland.

Stensele is only about three kilometers south of the main town of the municipality of Storuman, removed. The village has its own church, to the more distant parishes, as are, for example, the place Gunnar. By Stensele leads the European Route 12 and the railroad Hällnäs - Storuman.

Opened in 1886, the Church of Stensele is regarded as Sweden's largest wooden church. It can accommodate 2000 visitors, in which fire protection is limited today to 800 because of the number of visitors ..
