Stéphane Fiset

Stéphane Fiset ( born June 17, 1970 in Montreal, Quebec ) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played during his career between 1990 and 2002 for the Quebec Nordiques and Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and Montreal Canadiens in the National Hockey League.

Career

Stéphane Fiset began his career in 1987 in the Canadian Junior Football League QMJHL Victoriaville Tigres in the. In the NHL Entry Draft in 1988, he was selected by the Quebec Nordiques in the second round at position 24. He played the 1988/89 season still in the QMJHL and was received in the summer of 1989, the Trophée Jacques Plante as a goalkeeper with the best Gegentordurchschnitt and was voted the best goalkeeper of the CHL.

At the beginning of the season 1989/90 he had his first six appearances in the NHL, but were not very successful. He then completed the rest of the season in the QMJHL.

The season 1990/91 he spent mostly in the AHL at the Halifax Citadel, the farm team of the Nordiques. Three times he came to the NHL to use, but he managed still no victory. In the following years he came more and more frequently used. In the 1993/94 season he was the first time the number 1 at the Quebec Nordiques. And in 1994/95 he led them to the playoffs.

In the summer of 1995, the Quebec Nordiques moved to Colorado to began calling themselves Colorado Avalanche. Fiset went with to Colorado and began the season as first-choice goalkeeper, but in December an absolute superstar was committed with Patrick Roy, of course, claimed the No. 1 position. In June 1996, Fiset was transferred to the Los Angeles Kings. In the first season he shared the position in the goal with Byron Dafoe.
