Stephanie Beckert

Stephanie Beckert (born 30 May 1988 in Erfurt, East Germany ) is a company specializing in long-range German speed skater and Olympic gold medalist.

Career

Beckert's mother Angela was also a speed skater, her father Detlef handball player. At the age of two years Beckert was on the ice for the first time. First, she tried to figure skating, but switched at the age of ten years for speed skating. Her five younger siblings were also temporarily active as a speed skater; her brother Patrick qualified as Stephanie for the Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. Since October 2006, Beckert sports soldier in the sports promotion group Oberhof. She held the rank of master sergeant.

After seven German Junior Championship titles Beckert debuted at the beginning of the 2006/07 season at senior level. After courts between the 14th and 15th rank in its first three missions during the first two World Cups of the season in Heerenveen and Berlin she reached already in its fourth race ever and her first World Cup race over 5000 meters in Moscow in sixth place. Even before Beckert was over 3000 and 5000 meters German double champion.

Beckert continued its development continued steadily. At the World Cup in Moscow on 14 February 2008 she succeeded for the first time at a World Cup among the top 3 you occupied in the 5000 m race behind Claudia Pechstein and Martina Sáblíková the 3rd place. At the World Cup in Heerenveen, she finished second and in November 2009 she reached the same place the first World Cup victory. At their first participation in the all-around world championship in 2009 in Hamar, she took twelfth place. On the last stretch over 5000 meters she finished third. A month later at the World Single Distance Championships 2009 in Richmond Stephanie Beckert took fourth place over this distance and was eighth over 3000 meters.

At the Olympic Games in Vancouver Beckert won two silver medals: 14 February 2010 over the 3000 meters and ten days later on the 5000 meters; Martina won both races Sáblíková. On 27 February 2010 she was together with Daniela Anschütz - Thoms, Katrin Mattscherodt and Anni Friesinger - Postma Olympic gold medalist in the team pursuit.

Also at the World Single Distance Championships in 2011 she delivered from good results. After a bronze medal over 3000 m they still won silver in the 5000m and another bronze with Isabell East and Claudia Pechstein in the team pursuit.
