Steve Forrest (actor)

Steve Forrest ( born September 29, 1924 as William Forrest Andrews in Huntsville, Texas, † May 18, 2013 in Thousand Oaks, California ) was an American actor. In Germany he is known primarily for his portrayal of Lieutenant Dan " Hondo " Harrelson in the action series The tough five.

Life

Forrest began his film career in 1943 with a small supporting role in Crash Drive. He played for ten years only small roles, mostly without attribution in the credits. It was not until 1953, he had his breakthrough with the role as Dirk DeJong in A Heart of Gold by Robert Wise. He was awarded the Most Promising Newcomer Golden Globe for this film. He subsequently recorded bigger roles in Hollywood productions, as in the Heat alongside Robert Taylor and Janet Leigh and night on the boulevards next to Anne Baxter. From 1956 he began to work more often for television, followed by guest roles in Alfred Hitchcock Presents and adventure in the Wild West. In 1960, he starred opposite Elvis Presley in the Western Flaming Star and 1962 in the award-winning war drama The Longest Day. This was followed by further exposure in television series, including The Twilight Zone, The Fugitive and The Men from Shiloh Ranch.

In 1966, he was obliged Baron for the title role of the British spy series, but this was canceled after one year. Until the mid- 1970s, Forrest was still a lot of booked guest star in some of the most popular American series. In 1975 he was hired, the hard hitting five for the lead role as a SWAT team leader in the series. Forrest then worked with a few exceptions, almost exclusively for television productions in the mid- 1980s he had a recurring guest role in Dallas. He had his last film appearance in 2003 in a Cameorolle in the movie adaptation of The tough five- titled SWAT - The special unit.

Forrest was the youngest brother of actor Dana Andrews. He was married in 1949 and had three children.
