Steve Purdy (2012 )

Steven Francis Gordon Purdy ( born February 5, 1985 in Bakersfield, California ) is a Salvadoran football player. Purdy has been playing the 2011 season for the Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer.

Playing career

Youth and College

Purdy attended Archbishop Mitty High School in San Jose, California. He then played at the University of California at Berkeley, California college soccer for the California Golden Bears. Incidentally, 2006 was for the San Francisco Seals in the USL Premier Development League active.

About Germany in the MLS

After his time at college, he moved to the beginning of 2007 for TSV 1860 München. He was intended for the U23 in the Regionalliga. However, in the current season, he came only once used in the penultimate home game against Wehen. In the following season he was a regular in the second team of the lion and came up with 25 missions. In the second round he fell out due to injury for several weeks. On April 2, 2010 Steve Purdy joined the Portland Timbers ( USL ) in the former USSF Division 2 Professional League. He was able to establish at the Timbers a mainstay within the team quickly. On 26 January 2011, he moved to the new MLS franchise Portland Timbers.

National

USA

Purdy was part of various national youth selections of the United States. In 2007 he was appointed for a game of football team of the United States. In the game against Switzerland he was not used.

El Salvador

Purdy, whose ancestors came from El Salvador, announced in 2010 in an interview known to love to want to play for the national team of the Central American country. The former coach Carlos de los Cobos was also known as Purdy player in his choice to want to have.

11 May 2011 Purdy received a Salvadoran passport. Even before that, on 17 March 2011, Purdy was appointed for two games in the Salvadoran national football team. The Football Federation of El Salvador had but Portland missed 15 days in advance, according to FIFA statutes to request an exemption. For this reason, the Timbers Purdy presented not free.

He stood in the squad in El Salvador for the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2011, where he also earned his first international cap. In the quarter- final match against Panama, he was in the starting lineup.
