Stratford-on-Avon (District)

Stratford -on-Avon is a District in the county of Warwickshire in England. Administrative center is the similar-sounding town of Stratford -upon- Avon. Other important towns are Alcester, Aston Cantlow, Bidford-on- Avon, Bishop's Itchington, Harbury, Henley -in- Arden, Kineton, Long Itchington, Quinton, Shipston -on- Stour, Southam, Stockton, Studley, Wellesbourne, Weston-on Avon and Wootton Wawen.

The district was formed on 1 April 1974 and evolved from the merger of the Borough Stratford- upon- Avon, the Rural Districts Alcester, Shipston -on- Stour and Southam, and most of the Rural District Stratford- upon- Avon.
