Å umperk District

The Okres Šumperk ( German Moravia Schönberg) is a town in the Olomouc Region of the Czech Republic. The Okresy were roughly comparable to the districts in Germany, the district administrations were dissolved on 31 December 2002. The region is today (in a sense about translatable with Moravian Schönberger country) designated in the Czech Republic often using the term Šumpersko.

The district was located in the north-west Moravia and extends from the southwestern Altvatergebirge to Śnieżnik Mountains. In Okres Šumperk approximately 124 750 people live in 77 municipalities ( Obec ). Of 1,313 km ² take arable land 43%, forests 48% a.

Attractions

Tourists offers Šumpersko many castles, palaces and other historic buildings, museums and galleries.

  • In Loštice there is an original museum for the production of the Olomouc curd cheese as well as a synagogue and a Jewish cemetery.
  • In Velké Losiny the famous witch trials of major Ullersdorf were performed at the local Renaissance castle. In addition, located in the district of charming mountains, river valleys and nature parks.

On 1 January 2007 the municipality Lipinka joined the Okres Olomouc.
