Sun Myung Moon

Sun Myung Moon, and Sun Myung Moon, ( born February 25, 1920 in Sangsa -ri, Province Heian hokudō, Chosen, Empire of Japan, † 3 September 2012 in Songsan -ri, South Korea) was the founder and leader of the so-called Unification Church.

Life

Sun Myung Moon was born in what is now North Korea at a time when it belonged as part Chōsens to the Japanese Empire ( 1910 to 1945 /48). His birth name was Yong Myung Moon. With 15 years of coming from a Presbyterian family Moon on Easter Sunday (21 April 1935) had a vision of Christ according to their own information. In this vision, Jesus asked him to continue his mission.

When Moon was 9 years old, his father sent him to a village school, in the Confucian writings and Chinese characters were taught. At age 13, Moon passed the entrance test for a normal school and switched to the Osan School. In this school, there was a Korean nationalist school in which the instruction was not held in Japanese, but in Korean. Therefore, Moon moved again to school and attended from 1934 Jeongju Public Normal School, where lessons were held in Japanese, the former national language. According to the company Moon held at the closing ceremony, a speech in which he criticized the Japanese colonial rule, and was observed from then on by the police.

1938 Moon moved by Keijo and visited at the Keijo Imperial University, the Institute of Trade and Industry. From 1941 to 1943 Moon studied at a business college Waseda University in Tokyo Electrical Engineering. Moon graduated in September 1943 and returned to Chosen.

While Moon was living on the Japanese main islands, he supported the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai, founded and participated in underground movement who fought for the independence of Korea by the Japanese Empire.

In October 1944, Moon was arrested by the police and held until February 1945 at the police headquarters of the province Keikidō. He was accused of being a member of the Communist Party, because he had worked in the underground movement with Communists.

After the independence of Korea in August 1945, the peninsula north of the 38th parallel by the Soviet Union and south of the 38th parallel was occupied by the United States. As Moon wanted to pay in the Soviet-occupied part of Korea with South Korean money in October 1945 during a visit to his home, he was there again arrested and jailed for a week.

1946 Moon left his family and went to Pyöngjang to proselytize there. There he was arrested in 1948 for " breaking into the social order " and sentenced to five years' imprisonment in a labor camp in Hungnam. In an evacuation of Hungnam by UN troops on October 14, 1950 Moon managed to escape.

Moon fled with two trailers in the port city of Busan in the south of the Korean peninsula, where they arrived on 28 January 1951. He lived in a mud hut and wrote there his doctrine in a manuscript entitled The original principle ( Wol Li Bon Won ) down. He instructed one of his followers, Eu Hyo -won, systematic manner the content of the manuscript into a book. In 1957 the book was published " Declaration on the Divine Principle " ( Wol Li Hae Sol ). In 1966, Moon released a revised version entitled Explanation of the Divine Principle. This book is still regarded as the basis of doctrine Moons.

Family

Sun Myung Moon married on May 4, 1944 Choi Sun -gil. In 1955 his second son, Hee -jin was born. Hee -jin later died in a train accident. 1959 could be Choi Sun -gil of Sun Myung Moon divorce, and the first son Sung -jin grew up with their mother. Union movement and teaching

Moon founded on May 1, 1954, the Holy Spirit Association for the Unification of World Christianity in Seoul. Later he called them in the Unification Church, or union movement has to offer. In public, it is often referred to as Moonies.
