SV Spielberg

The SV Spielberg ( officially: Sports club Spielberg 1920 eV ) is a football club from the approximately 2,800 inhabitants Carlsbad district Spielberg in Baden. Play their home games, the club on the sports field Spielberg.

History

The SV Spielberg was established on 7 May 1920. 1950 succeeded in rising into the A -Class, the year 1970 saw him move up to the second amateur league. First gained national attention with the club qualifying for the DFB-Pokal 1975/76. In the first round they lost on August 2, 1975, 3:4 for SpVgg Eintracht Hatton of Hausen.

After the descent into the district class in 1983 rose to 1987 in the national league, followed in 1994, the rise in the regional league swimming. 2009, the SV Spielberg Association league champion and rose to the Oberliga Baden- Württemberg. There, however, one could as a table Fifteenth the class does not hold, so that the club took back into the regional league in season 2010/11. On the final day of the season 2010/11 the SV Spielberg succeeded in re- association league championship and thus the direct promotion back to the premier league. There they secured in the 2011/12 season in the league on the final day.

Known player

  • The later German international Jens Nowotny began playing football with his brother Dirk at SV Spielberg. He played up to the D- youth for the club before he moved to FC Germania Friedrichstal.
