Sverre Strandli

Sverre Gunnar Strandli ( born September 30, 1925 in Brandval; † 4 March 1985) was a Norwegian athlete. At a height of 1.86 m his competition weight was 93 kg.

Sverre Strandli won the competition in the hammer throw with a distance of 55.71 meters ahead of the Italian Teseo Taddia with 54.73 meters at the European Championships 1950 in Brussels. After this success Strandli was elected in 1950 Sportsman of the Year in Norway.

At the Olympic Games in Helsinki in 1952 it reached 56.36 meters square 7, wherein only European launcher in front of him. It won the Hungarian József Csermák, which is by 60.34 meters, the first sixty -meter-throw succeeded at all.
