Swarzędz

Swarzędz [ sfaʐɛnt͡s ] ( German Schwersenz, 1940-1943 Schwaningen ) is a town in Poland, in Wielkopolska about ten kilometers east of Posen ( Poznań).

Generally

The place is located right at the Polish A2 motorway and has an airfield, which is operated by the Poznań flying club Wanda Modlibiowska. In the resort, different companies have settled, especially for carpenters and upholstery work. A bike path from Poznan through the nature reserve Dębiniec after Pobiedziska passes through the town.

History

The first written mention of a settlement on the site of the present Swarzędz dates from the year 1366. 1377 it is mentioned that there is a parish in the settlement. Due to its favorable location on the way from Poznan to Mazovia, the place became well. Originally the settlement was privately owned by the Lodzia family since the 15th century it belonged to the Górka. 1638 was the place the municipal law. In the 17th century emerged guilds of merchants and artisans. 1793, during the Second Partition of Poland, the city came up with now 2,508 inhabitants under Prussian rule. 1798 lived in the city 448 craftsmen, 70 drapers and 36 Leinweber. 1807 Schwersenz became part of the Grand Duchy of Warsaw, with its dissolution in 1815 it fell again to Prussia.

End of the 19th century flourished as a joiner. 1887 was the site connection to the rail network from Poznan to Wreschen and thus, beside the road from Warsaw to Poznan, another important transport connection. In 1919, after the First World War, Schwersenz came to Poland again, but was occupied at the beginning of World War II by the Third Reich.

1941-1943 there was a labor camp for Jews. From 1941 to 1944 there was the collection camp Schwaningen of Arbeitsgaues 3 ( Wartheland ) of the Reich Labour Service.

Attractions

  • There is the open air museum " Prof.- Ryszard Kostecki ," which deals with beekeeping from all over Europe.
  • In the municipality associated place Uzarzewo a park from the 19th century is a 1860-1865 built courtyard. This is a hunting museum.
  • In the village Wierzenica the wooden St. Nicholas, which dates from the second half of the 16th century is located. In the church is the grave of August Cieszkowski ( 1814-1894 ). Also located near the village of a cemetery with graves from the Bronze Age.
