Sweet Charity (Film)

Sweet Charity is an American feature film from 1969, based on the eponymous musical by Neil Simon, Cy Coleman and Dorothy Fields on an idea by director Bob Fosse.

Action

The Amüsiermädchen Charity, dancing for money with men has not lost her faith in the goodness of people and the eternal pure love, even after eight years in this job. Therefore, always comes to men, which they exploit, and is regarded by her friends as naive and unteachable. She makes the acquaintance of an Italian random movie stars, whom she inspired with its unspoiled nature and is encouraged to be reconciled with his girlfriend, which he wants to separate. The director Bob Fosse had already taken in the Broadway version directed and choreographed and turned with " Sweet Charity " his first feature film. Success

The old Hollywood studio system was already in crisis, and the rise of realistic, socially critical cinema of the New Hollywood was characterized by Bonnie and Clyde and The Graduate already taking shape.
