Sylhet (Division)

The Sylhet Division ( Bengali: সিলেট বিভাগ, Silet bibhāg, Silet Bibhag ) is one of seven administrative units of Bangladesh, named the districts of superior and after their respective largest city. With an area of ​​12595.95 km ², it is the smallest administrative unit and is located in the extreme northeast of the country. The Population Division measures about 8 million inhabitants. The administrative capital is the city of Sylhet.

The Sylhet Division is bordered to the north by the Indian state of Meghalaya, on the east by the Indian state of Assam, in the south also to an Indian state, Tripura and on the west by the national administrative units Dhaka and Chittagong.

The management unit is made up of only four districts and has 14 municipalities and numerous local Subverwaltungskategorien. The four districts are: Habiganj, Moulvibazar, Sunamganj and Sylhet.

After a referendum on 6 July 1947, the time associated with the undivided Assam area East Pakistan, now Bangladesh, was incorporated.
