Taganskaya (Moscow Metro)
Taganskaya (Russian Таганская (debate? / I ) ) is an underground station of the Moscow Metro on the ring line. He went on 1 January 1950, the first six stations of the ring line in operation.
Description
Like all stations on the line is Koltsevaya Taganskaya a transfer station, both to the metro station of the radial Tagansko - Krasnopresnenskaja - line and the station opened in 1979 Kalininskaja Marksistskaja the line. Owes its name to the historic place name Tagannaja Sloboda, which, in turn, among other things for today Tagansky district and located there Taganskaya Square, under which the station is created eponymous subway station Taganskaya. The present square was built in the 18th century at the intersection of several roads leading to the mound in place of which runs the Garden Ring today. Today, the Taganskaya Square applies to the three adjacent subway stations as the center of the district. Like all other ring line stations of the Moscow Metro also Taganskaya was designed architecturally very complex. The vault of the 9.5 -meter-wide central station hall is supported by two rows pylon and completed by chandeliers. The clad with white marble pylons fall on mainly by the sharp upward compositions from gilded white majolica ornaments on light blue background. The motifs of the ornaments revolve around heroic deeds of the Soviet Army and the partisans in World War II and in previous wars with Russian participation. The center of each composition in each case forms a medallion with figure of a prominent military-historical personality, the reliefs around it each symbolize an army group. The floor of the platform is carried out in red and gray granite.
Originally there was the site of today's access to Tagansko - Krasnopresnenskaja line a sculptural composition depicting a surrounded by children Joseph Stalin. In the course of de-Stalinization, however, this was replaced by plastic ornaments with portrait of Lenin and the arms of the Union republics. During the construction of the transition tunnel mid -1960s and the composition was removed.
