Taipa-Mangonui

Taipa - Mangonui is the name of a chain of small coastal resorts in the Far North district in the Northland on the North Island of New Zealand. It lies on the North Auckland Peninsula on the south shore of Doubtless Bay. It consists of the villages of Taipa, Cable Bay, Cooper 's Beach and Mangonui that are grown together to form a conurbation with a total population of 1569 inhabitants at the 2006 census.

This " miniature metropolitan area " is located 100 km as the crow road and 150 kilometers northwest of Whangarei and 20 km north-east of Kaitaia. This makes it the most northerly center of New Zealand with a population of about 1000 inhabitants.

Education

The Taipa Area School is a composite school for grades 1-15 with a decile rating of 3 and 2009, 443 students.

The Mangonui School is a " contributing primary school " for grades 1-6 with a decile 3 and 2009, 129 students. The school opened in 1857, one of the original school building now serves as a school library.
