The Tapleys Hill Road is a major road in Adelaide in the center of the Australian state of South Australia. It connects the western suburbs of the city of Port Adelaide to Glenelg ..

Course

It runs through the Local Government Areas Port Adelaide Enfield City, Charles Sturt City, West Torrens City and Holdfast Bay City.

The road branches off from the Port Road (A7 ) in Atherton from the southwest and crosses after a few hundred meters, the Old Port Road, where it turns to the south. It crosses the West Lakes Road, the Trimmer Parade, Grange Road and Henley Beach Road. Then they crossed the River Torrens and the Burbridge Road / Sir Donald Bradman Drive (A6). Then it forms the western boundary of the airport of Adelaide. After crossing the River Sturt it reaches the Anzac Highway ( A5) in Glenelg and ends. The Brighton Road (A15 ) is continued to the south.

Expansion of Anzac Highway

Before removing the Anzac Highway in the 1990s, the southern end of Tapleys Hill Road was tied to the Anzac Highway and was about 100 meters west of today's end. The expansion included a realignment of Tapleys Hill Road in this area and tied them to at the north end of Brighton Road. This traffic jams in this busy area were avoided. The old route still exists today and is called Old Tapleys Hill Road. You only serves as a residential street.
