Tatra K2

The articulated railcar Tatra K2 is the successor to the Tatra K1.

History of development

K2

After the experience with the K1 was decided to incorporate the electrical equipment of already proven type T3. The number of driving and braking levels was increased, also received the middle bogie a mechanical brake. The acceleration was slightly lower compared to T3. 1966, the prototype was used to test drives in Prague. After the successful testing in 1966 started the series production. Still run in the Czech and Slovak cities K2, partly still in original condition, modernized partially consuming.

K2SU

The first prototype of foreign-registered vehicles with the number 7001 was tested from 1966 together with the prototype No. 7000 in Prague. Then he came to Novosibirsk and got the car number 121

The series production of the vehicles produced in the Soviet Union took place from 1967 until 1969. The short production time due to the fact that articulated vehicles in Soviet factories at that time were the exception and thus technically constitute a special feature. A vehicle is preserved in Yekaterinburg, which was worked up as historical vehicle with the number 801.

K2YU

This version received the tram Sarajevo is the only operating Yugoslavia. The difference to K2 consists only in that the K2YU had attached to the current collector on the rear bogie. A total of 1973 and 1983, 90 cars were delivered between, they got the car numbers 201 to 290

Conversion to K3R -N / SATRA III

After the turn of the millennium modernized K2 units have been enhanced by a new Niederlfurmittelteil in Brno and Sarajevo - these vehicles are not to be confused with other tags, but that emerged from each of two T3 cars and therefore have a different door arrangement in the rear part (eg Plzen Tatra K3 R.NT ).
