Tatra T1

T1 is the type name for the first tramcar of the Czechoslovak manufacturer Tatra Smíchov Vagonka, which was built after the American PCC principle.

History

The first prototype of the T1 went as Tw 5001 on 22 January 1951 on the streets of Prague. Between 1951 and 1958 a total of 287 of these railcars were built. Sidecar and articulated buses, there were not of the type T1.

Most T1 were used in Czechoslovakia itself, only 2 cars went to the Polish Warsaw and 20 in the Soviet Rostov -on-Don.

The cars were in Czechoslovakia until the 1960s in use before they were converted into vehicles of type T3. The last T1 was adopted on 4 April 1981 in Plzeň. The prototype of the Tatra car is preserved in Prague Tram Museum Střešovice (Muzeum Vozovna Střešovice ).
