Tavey

Tavey is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Tavey situated at an altitude of 343 m above sea level, two kilometers southwest of Héricourt and about eight kilometers northwest of the city of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the western part of the Burgundian Gate, in a niche on the southwestern edge of the basin of Héricourt, which is drained by the Lizaine.

The area of ​​2.96 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the Burgundian Gate. The populated part of the area occupied by the basin of Héricourt, which is on average 340 m. The area is drained by the village stream to the Ruisseau de l' Etang and by the Ruisseau des Epenottes directly to Lizaine. To the southwest passed over a 50 to 80 m high ground level to the adjacent plateaus, which are composed of limestone of the Upper Jurassic time. They are used mainly agricultural, but also show larger forest areas. With 448 m Bois is achieved the highest elevation of Tavey on the edge of the Grand.

History

The village Tavey formed in the Middle Ages a rule, which was subordinate to the abbey of Lure. Over time, the possession of Tavey led several times to conflicts between the Counts of Montbéliard, Thiébaud de Neuchâtel and the bailiff of Héricourt. After the Reformation was introduced around 1565, the church two faiths served for some time as a house of worship. With the annexation of the county of Montbéliard Tavey reached 1793 final in French hands. Since 2001 Tavey is a member of the comprehensive 20 villages Joint Authority Pays d' Héricourt.

Attractions

Today's Reformed Church was originally developed from a Romanesque building, parts of which are preserved in the choir; the rest was rebuilt in 1760. From the 20th century, the Catholic church was built. A stone cross dates from 1792. Center in different houses from the 17th and 18th centuries have been preserved in the characteristic style of the Franche -Comté.

Population

With 471 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Tavey one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1911 275 people were still counted ), a strong population growth was recorded during the 1960 's and 70's again. After a temporary stagnation has occurred since 2000, a new rise.

Economy and infrastructure

Tavey was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road N83, which runs from Belfort to L' Isle- sur -le- Doubs. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 13 kilometers. Further road links exist with Laire and Byans.
