Coisevaux

Coisevaux is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Coisevaux situated at an altitude of 362 m above sea level, 4 km west of Héricourt and about 11 km northwest of the town of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the western part of the Burgundian Gate, in a basin at the northwest foot of the Grand Bois.

The area of ​​4.18 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the Burgundian Gate. The central part of the area is traversed in a west-east direction from the Talniederung the village of Bach and the Ruisseau de Champey, which has a width of about two kilometers. This trough is flanked to the south by ridges of Grand Bois, which consists of a resistant limestone layer of the middle Jurassic period and on the 498 meters, the highest elevation of Coisevaux is achieved. The area is to the Ruisseau de la Carpière drained (tributary of Lizaine ), which is the Etang Réchal, a fish pond, dammed. To the north, the municipality's area extends to the edge of the hilly forest area Bois de Granges, which is built up from red sandstone.

Neighboring communities of Coisevaux are Luze in the north, and Couthenans Héricourt in the east, and Verlans Trémoins in the south and in the west Champey.

History

The territory of Coisevaux was settled very early. In the cave of Sarrazin ceramic fragments were found from the Bronze Age. Since the Middle Ages Coisevaux belonged to the rule Héricourt, which was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Montbéliard. In 1748 the village came contractually definitively to the French crown. Since 2001 Coisevaux is a member of the comprehensive 20 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays d' Héricourt.

Population

With 293 inhabitants ( 2004) Coisevaux one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. After the population had decreased in the first half of the 20th century (1886 220 people were still counted ), a strong population growth has been recorded since the mid- 1970s. Since then, the population has more than doubled.

Economy and infrastructure

Coisevaux was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in Héricourt and in the agglomerations Belfort and Montbéliard.

The village is traffic- technically quite well developed. It is located near the main road D9, which runs from Héricourt to Villers Exel. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 14 km. Further road links exist with Couthenans and Trémoins.
