Telephone company

As a telephone company ( official name in Switzerland: telecommunications service providers ) are referred to colloquially both telecommunications network operators and telecommunications service providers. Before the liberalization of the telephone markets, both divisions were operated in most countries by a monopoly company which often was in state ownership.

Frequently phone companies are either on the landline or mobile ( they are called then mobile companies ) specialize.

The services offered today include not only the traditional voice service, telephony, and the provision of data transmission facilities, fax and connect to the Internet.

Through the convergence of access networks to a Next Generation Network occur in addition to the traditional fixed- line and mobile providers also Internet service providers, cable companies and VoIP providers increasingly as a provider of voice telephony and thus as telephone companies on.
