Teodoro R. Yangco

Teodoro Rafael Yangco ( born November 9, 1861 in San Antonio, † April 20, 1939 in Manila ) was a Filipino politician. Between 1917 and 1920 he represented the Philippines as a delegate ( Resident Commissioner ) in the House of Representatives of the United States.

Career

Teodoro Yangco attended the Ateneo de Manila and then studied until 1881 at the University of Santo Tomas. Between 1882 and 1886 he attended a business school in London. After that he was in his home in shipbuilding, employed in the ferry business and trade. He was also director of a life insurance policy. In addition, he was active in Manila in many other industries. Politically, he was a member of the Nacionalista Party.

In 1917 Yangco was by the Philippine legislature for three years as a non-voting delegate in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on March 4, 1917. In 1920 he opted not to run again. So that his term of office ended in Congress on March 3, 1920. Afterwards he resumed his previous activities on again. Yangco died on April 20, 1939 in Manila.
