Terry Cox

Terence William Harvey ' Terry ' Cox ( born March 13, 1937 in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire ) is a British drummer of the folk-jazz.

Life and work

Cox played after lessons with Jack Peach from 1960 with Michael Garrick, then Lenny Felix and Sandy Brown. Mid-1960s, he belonged to the Blues Incorporated by Alexis Korner, recorded with Duffy's Nucleus of Duffy Power and was in the house band at Ronnie Scott 's Jazz Club. With Danny Thompson, he joined in 1967 by Korner in the folk band Pentangle, where he remained until their ( preliminary ) Resolution 1973. He also played with Benny Carter and Barney Kessel, as well as Roger Webb ( 1970) and the Orchestra of Bobby Lamb and Ray Premru (1971). He also was involved in recordings by The Humblebums, Bert Jansch and John Renbourn as well as Shirley Collins, Dana Gillespie and David Bowie. Between 1974 and 1982 he belonged to the band of Charles Aznavour, but was also a session musician for Ashton & Lord and Elton John. A traffic accident in 1982 has affected for many years Cox. Since the founding of Pentangle in 1985, he was one of the band until 1990 to return, went on tour with the again 2008.

In the field of jazz, he took Ray Warleigh (1969 ), Harold McNair (1970), Cleo Laine (1976 ) or Digby Fairweather (2002) on. His compositions also be interpreted by Grover Washington and Spyro Gyra.

He now lives in Menorca, where he runs a restaurant with his wife and is active with local bands.
